Naeem Islam, the second cricketer to score 10,000 first-class runs

Senior Bangladesh cricketer, Naeem Islam has achieved a unique feat in first-class cricket during a recent game.

In the 25th National Cricket League, Islam amassed 10,000 runs in first-class cricket in Bangladesh.

Notably, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also recognized this impressive feat and awarded Islam with a prestigious crest.

Meanwhile, the all-rounder has achieved 10,039 runs that is studded with 31 tons.

Additionally, Islam has played 8 Tests for the national side where he has scored 416 runs features a memorable 108 runs against the West Indies in 2012.

Furthermore, selector Habibul Bashar and match referee Md Ehsanul Hoque decided to honor Islam with the crest.

Well scoring 10,000 runs is very difficult and he has been playing for a very long time. In the last three to four years, he has been batting very well. Not only about scoring runs, but our future players, who are now playing longer-version first-class cricket, will be inspired by his batting and can learn how to play longer-version cricket.

It is surprising to see that a first-class career has surpassed the international one

Naeem Islam’s remarkable achievement brings to mind a similar feat, accomplished by Tushar Imran who holds the record for the highest first-class runs in Bangladesh, which is 11,972.

Imran scored these runs when representing the Dhaka Metro in the second innings against Sylhet Division.

Meanwhile, Islam has also played for the Bangladesh U19 during the triumphal 2003-04 World Cup Plate Championship campaign.

His major achievement during that tournament was getting the highest individual score in the tournament against defending champions Australia.

Furthermore, his teammates during that tournament, Aftab Ahmed and Shahadat Hossain went on to play international cricket for Bangladesh.

In 2008, Islam received his call-up to Bangladesh’s ODI squad.
