Ambati Rayudu made an intriguing statement about the ardent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) supporters. Predicting that the team would experience a major decline in support in the upcoming years without their legendary captain MS Dhoni.

After competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for both teams. Rayudu feels that the Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time champions, have a more devoted fan base than individual cults. If Dhoni weren’t there, the retired middle-order veteran believes CSK supporters wouldn’t fill half the stadium in Chepauk.

Speaking on the “Beer Biceps Podcast”. The former Indian batter Rayudu reflected on the moments he experienced the unwavering support and admiration of massive MI and CSK fans, drawing comparisons between their attitudes toward the respective teams and individual players on the winning teams.

Notably, as the two most successful teams to date, CSK and MI have the most intense rivalry in the IPL. Now, each franchise has won the coveted IPL championship five times.

Without Dhoni, CSK Fans Wouldn’t Be Able to Fill Half the Stadium – Rayudu

When Rayudu was asked by Ranveer to compare the fan bases of MI and CSK, the former middle-order batter argued that MI had a more devoted fan base because they wouldn’t lose interest in the team even if one or two of their favorite players left.

For CSK, Rayudu feels the fans wouldn’t be so interested in donning the yellow and waving their flag if there was no Dhoni present to lead and bat for the franchise.

As a player, I can say they (Mumbai Indians fans) support the team more than one player,” Rayudu said. “Chennai is very different, Chennai fans are Dhoni fans first and then they are of CSK.

“If Mahi bhai is not there, I don’t think the stadium (MA Chidambaram Stadium) would be half full. They are all Mahi bhai’s fans.“
