Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, is turning 39 today (Friday). Sachin Tendulkar has written a humorous message for his former teammate on this unique occasion. During a considerable portion of their remarkable careers, the two cricket players shared the changing room.

Sharing a treasured photograph from that era, Tendulkar wrote on X, “Happy birthday, Irfan. Maze karo aur jhoomte raho kyunki jhoomein jo ‘Pathan’…mehfil hi lut jaaye.” After bidding adieu to professional cricket, Pathan has now been building his career as a commentator. He is part of the star-studded expert panel in the ICC ODI World Cup.

Following the release of Sachin Tendulkar’s post on X, supporters of Pathan flocked to the comment area to voice their appreciation. Along with many birthday greetings, a recent viral photo of Pathan dancing with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan received some remarks.

The historic triumph that Afghanistan had earlier on October 23 over Pakistan in a World Cup match was caught at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Pathan provided commentary during the game. He arrived on the ground and joined Rashid in an unplanned dance celebrating Afghanistan’s victory after the on-field activities were concluded. On the internet, the video managed to generate some buzz.

For almost a decade, Pathan led the Indian pace attack in all formats. He was one of the few fast bowlers who could swing the ball in both directions. In January 2006, Pathan made history in a Test match against Pakistan in Karachi when he became the first bowler to score a hat-trick in the first over of the match. To accomplish his unprecedented hat-trick, he defeated Mohammad Yosuf, Younis Khan, and Salman Butt.

Pathan also played a pivotal role in India’s triumphant run in the 2007 T20 World Cup. The left-arm Indian seamer featured in seven matches in the tournament and took 10 wickets.

He represented India in 120 ODIs and 29 Tests, picking 173 and 100 wickets in the respective formats. He also played 24 T20Is and scalped 28 wickets in total.
