India spinner, Jayant Yadav is all set to play for a new county club in the ongoing County Championship.

After having played with Warwickshire last year, Yadav has decided to play for Middlesex this year.

Moreover, the spinner will be available for selection in the club’s last four matches of the season.

Jayant has also represented India at the international level wherein he has played 6 Tests and picked up 16 wickets.

Therefore, he has a taste for the English soil and knows how the championship plays out every year.

Says Jayant in a club statement,

I am honoured and excited to join the prestigious Middlesex County Cricket Club for the upcoming Championship games and be a part of its rich cricketing history. I enjoyed my experience of playing county cricket last year and am eagerly looking forward to the new stint with Middlesex and contributing to the club’s success.

Yadav will get to play four games against Essex, Lancashire, Warwickshire, and Nottinghamshire.

Middlesex’s Director of Cricket happy to sign up Jayant Yadav

Meanwhile, Middlesex’s Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman has expressed his happiness on signing up Jayant Yadav for the short stint.

The team management was already looking for a replacement for Pieter Malan.

Therefore, the opportunity to not sign up Yadav could have proven costly for the county club.

We feel that spin will be an important factor in September and the opportunity to sign an international spinner of Jayant’s quality was too good an opportunity to turn down. He brings us that extra bit of something you get from an international cricketer, experience, quality, know how- all attributes that will prove hugely valuable to us in the coming games.
