India vs. England World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli and Mark Wood hype the match

On October 29, in Lucknow, India, the reigning champions, and England, the undefeated team, will square off in their respective sixth-round World Cup matches. The official tournament broadcasters have shared a brief video on their social media platforms featuring veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli and England’s speedster Mark Wood discussing the competitive nature of their shared cricket rivalry in an attempt to build excitement for the highly anticipated match.

India are looking to bolster their bowling unit in the absence of Hardik Pandya. As the all-rounder is all set to miss his second game of the World Cup due to a ligament injury. The big-ticket clash between the hosts and the struggling defending champions, England, in Lucknow on Sunday. India have one foot in the semi-final already, having won 5 out of 5 and they are unlikely to put pressure on Hardik before the knockout stages of the tournament. 

Kohli praises Mark Wood, Adil Rashid in promo footage

The day before India’s World Cup 2023 encounter against a disheartened England side, batting great Virat Kohli praised Mark Wood much for his speed and ability to put hitters off. He also called England’s Adil Rashid an underappreciated bowler. In addition, Kohli said he was excited to see Rashid when the two teams square off .

Wood, on the other hand, made clear his pre-match thoughts by highlighting his importance to his nation as a wicket-taker.

As of right now, Team India, is the only team in the 2023 World Cup without a loss. They have defeated Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand with convincing run-chases. With in form Rohit and kohli they look unbeaten able.

Conversely, England has lost four of their five tournament games thus far. Failing to live up to their title as the “defending champions“. A victory over India at this juncture could give their camp some hope as they continue on their damaged path toward an unlikely semi-final destination, since they are now ranked ninth in the World Cup 2023 points system.
