IND vs AUS T20 series: Hardik Pandya to miss, Surya or Ruturaj to captain

Hardik Pandya will probably miss the IND vs AUS T20 series beginning on November 23. There will be five matches in the series between India and Australia.

IND VS AUS T20 SERIES SKIPPER?

Hardik Pandya suffered a ligament tear in the World Cup 2023 match between India and Bangladesh. Pandya seemed to sprain his ankle while attempting to stop a straight shot from Litton Das. Therefore, Hardik had to leave the ground, struggling to complete his spell. Initially, the reports were of Hardik missing two to three games. Later, it was officially announced that he would have to miss the entire tournament.

Moreover, It seems doubtful that injured Hardik Pandya will be available for the IND vs AUS T20 series. The all-rounder will probably need extra time to heal from the left ankle ligament rupture. The squad for India’s home IND vs AUS T20 series is likely to be revealed until the following the World Cup semifinal. The World Cup 2023 semifinal, including the participation of India, will be on November 15 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sources within the BCCI informed about Hardik Pandya’s comeback. As per the source, It would be more realistic for Hardik to recover in time for the IND vs SA T20 series. The T20 series against South Africa is to begin in Durban on December 10. Under anonymity, a senior BCCI source who was aware of the proceedings informed PTI that,

“There is some time before Hardik can be declared fit and available for selection. It would be more practical for him to try and complete his rehabilitation with a possible ‘RTP’ (Return To Play) during SA series. It will certainly be NCA Sports science team’s call”

Presumably, the side will be captained by Asian Games gold medalist captain Ruturaj Gaikwad or T20 team’s chosen vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav.
