As the ICC World Cup rolls on in India, Pakistani journalists and fans are still facing scrutiny by the hosts.

Apparently, their visa applications still face severe scrutiny from Indian authorities.

This has led the Pakistan Cricket Board to register a complaint against the BCCI to the ICC which is now working in tandem with the Indian board.

Therefore, both agencies are trying to secure visas for Pakistani people in as quick a time as possible.

Meanwhile, 60 Pakistani journalists are going to cover the ICC ODI World Cup in India.

During their opening game yesterday, Pakistan received huge support from Indian fans.

Only one fan supported the Pakistanis throughout their opening game yesterday.

Says an ICC spokesperson on the visa issue,

This (visa) is an obligation of our host (BCCI) and they are working hard on it with our full support. Every effort is being made to get this sorted.

However, skipper Babar Azam’s take on this issue is completely the other way round. He is in fact quite happy with the hospitality and support of the Indian fans.

Now, he wants even more of them in their next match but also wants his fans from Pakistan to come.

Pakistan’s visa applications are undergoing tough scrutiny from India

Still, every Pakistani visa application for India is undergoing a strict process of scrutiny which is making things difficult for the people on the other side of the border.

Which is why the PCB is hoping to get the visa fiasco sorted before the 14th of October.

This is to ensure that everyone is able to watch the all-important India vs Pakistan clash at Ahmedabad.

With Pakistan placed in the prior reference category list, several Indian ministries check their visa applications.

These include the Home, External Affairs, and even Sports ministries of India.

Says a PCB spokesperson on the issue,

PCB is disappointed to see that Pakistani journalists and fans are facing uncertainty about obtaining and Indian visa to cover Pakistan’s opening game in the ICC ODI World Cup. We understand the significant role that journalists and passionate fans play in enhancing the spirit and atmosphere of sports events.
