Former Australia wicketkeeper-batter, Adam Gilchrist has showered heavy praise on India’s young keeper-batter, Rishabh Pant.

Although Pant is not a part of India’s squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup, he has still given inspiration to many keeper-batters around the world.

Gilchrist has commented on Pant’s aggressive and fearless style of play which has made him such an inspirational figure.

After Pant’s horrific car accident last year in December, there were questions as to who would don the gloves for India in the World Cup.

But, with the presence of KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan in the team, India’s problem seems to be solved.

However, as per reports, KL Rahul is the wicketkeeper while Ishan Kishan is going to be a middle-order batter.

Says Gilchrist on Pant,

I think Rishabh has inspired a lot of wicket-keeper batters around the world to play that [aggressive] way. It is fascinating for such a young man to have such an impact that Rishabh has had, and others are responding and playing in that positive manner.

Gilchrist says India are a well-equipped team at the moment

Talking about the Indian team for the ODI World Cup, Gilchrist states that they are currently well-equipped at the moment.

He also says that India has the perfect combination at the moment and they must not change it.

Meanwhile, both Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul have handled the wicketkeeping duties well and thus are able options.

They (India) are well stocked. They have got a couple of (wicketkeeping) options there; obviously, when KL was out with his injury, Ishan Kishan took his opportunity and played really well, and now they find themselves in the team together so that’s a wonderful case of taking an opportunity.
