India leggie, Yuzvendra Chahal is on a roll in the County Championship tournament for his side Kent.
After missing out on the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup, Chahal decided to sign up for the Championship.
Talking about the game, Kent skipper Jack Leaning won the toss and decided to bat first against Nottinghamshire.
In the end, Kent put up a target of 446 while Chahal, who came in at No.11 was dismissed for a golden duck.
However, Chahal showed his prowess with the ball as he dismissed Matthew Montgomery, Lyndon James, and Calvin Harrison.
He finished with figures of 3/63 in his 29 overs while Kent enforced the follow-on for Nottinghamshire.
In their first innings, Nottinghamshire were all out for 265 and now Chahal will be a key player in the second innings as well with the ball in hand.
A look at Chahal’s stats in first-class cricket and Ranji Trophy
If we talk about Chahal’s stats in first-class cricket in India, he has played 33 games and scalped 87 wickets with an average of 35.25 and has an economy of 3.13.
Also, his strike rate in red-ball cricket is 67.4. He has so far played 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is for India but the selectors have never considered him seriously for Test cricket.
However, Chahal has not been consistent in the Ranji Trophy as he played only two games for Haryana in the tournament’s last edition.
After Nottinghamshire, Chahal will get to play against Somerset and Lancashire. Currently, Kent is in 8th position in the points table, just below Nottinghamshire.
Also, Kent is also in grave danger of being relegated to Division 2 in the next season.
