Senior India spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has welcomed the 17-member squad selected for the Asia Cup.

Two days ago, the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Ajit Agarkar along with skipper Rohit Sharma, released the final list of players who will be participating in the continental tournament.

While new talent has been given a chance to showcase their abilities, some names haven’t made it.

Names of Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Sanju Samson aren’t there in the squad and fans have shown their disappointment already.

Meanwhile, some of the names have sparked massive criticism such as Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.

Many of the fans have written that Sanju Samson should’ve made it to the main squad as his ODI average is better than SKY’s.

Moreover, Tilak Varma has also faced criticism because he is a rookie who hasn’t played a single ODI for India.

Ashwin provides thoughtful analysis of Asia Cup squad; asks fans to accept it

Meanwhile, Ashwin, known for his insightful and thought-provoking analysis, has come forward to give his perspective on the issue.

He has provided full support to the selectors’ decision and stated that they have selected the right squad.

Says Ashwin on his YouTube channel,

The selectors know what they are doing. In a huge country like India, when you select a squad, there will be some key players who will be missing the cut. So, just because your favourite is not there in the squad, you should not degrade the others.

Additionally, Ashwin also highlighted the strengths of Suryakumar Yadav and called him an excellent T20 player.

He has also stood up for SKY’s and Tilak Varma’s selection in the team and has stressed the importance of backing new and young talents.

Finally, Ashwin has appealed to the people of India to get out of the IPL rivalry.

Furthermore, he has also said that the feelings of nationalism must come into each and every Indian once the players don the Indian jersey.
