English cricketer, Alex Lees has recently talked about the 2022 England vs India Test series that has been mentioned in a book.
Currently, Kohli is at the top of the batting charts in the ongoing ODI World Cup but was going through a thin patch a few years ago.
In Test cricket, Kohli’s last century came back in 2019 and since then he struggled to get runs.
Additionally, he continued to play in 41 Test innings and didn’t get a single ton in red-ball cricket.
However, Kohli finally found his rhythm and scored a brilliant ton against Australia in this year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy, ending his long drought.
Furthermore, Kohli has a habit of getting under the skin of the opposition, and last year, he had a bit of a heated exchange with Lees during the series decider.
Meanwhile, Lees, who was playing just his 6th Test for England and after the exchange, he decided to get even with Kohli.
Lees talks about the 2022 incident between him and Kohli in a book
Meanwhile, in a book titled, Bazball: The Inside Story of a Test Cricket Revolution by Nick Hoult and Lawrence Booth, Lees reminisced about the 2022 bilateral series between England and India.
He also looked unfazed by what Kohli had told him during the series.
After the exchange, Lees decided to get even with Kohli and has lashed out at him heavily.
Kohli was carrying on for quite a while. Because I was an inexperienced international, he was trying to use his weight. It was a pretty poor cricket chat. He was just carrying on in a fashion he can do sometimes. He had been getting under people’s skin in the field when he was batting. I’m not fussed about someone’s position in the game. We are all equal out on the pitch. I just wasn’t going to put up with someone trying to intimidate me. It was as simple as that. He is an incredible player, but I thought he was just being a bit of an idiot.
Lees loses his cool and says to Kohli that he has had two kids since the latter’s last ton
Adding further, Lees lost his cool and decided to get more cheeky with Kohli and gave him a nasty remark,
I’ve had two kids since you last scored a century.
Talking about the game, Lees scored 56 from 65 balls in the 2nd innings for England. Meanwhile, he has played only 10 Tests for his side.
Moreover, in the rescheduled Test, Kohli performed poorly and scored 11 and 20 runs respectively.
India ended their innings at 245 after playing 81.5 overs and asked England to chase down 246.
It was a pretty easy chase as Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root scored tons and leveled the series by winning the game by 7 wickets.
